Other Things to Do in Zmudowski State Beach

Apart from fishing, there other ways to enjoy Zmudowski State Beach. Because it is large and has many sand dunes, Zmudowski State Beach is an excellent place to do some recreational hiking and walking – in fact, we recommend that you swing by the Pajaro River estuary while you are exploring the beach. The estuary is the point where the river and the ocean begin to merge with one another -we promise you, this natural preserve is one of the most beautiful places on the beach.

If you're not much into walking, it may interest you to know that there is some horseback riding going on at the Zmudowski State Beach. Sure, the horses are limited to areas closer to the waterline, but who cares? It's a good place to ride. If that still is a little too vigorous for you, you are invited to look to the skies and watch the numerous bird species flitting above. Birdwatchers will be happily contented with the selection of birds that glide overhead.

Or you can choose to do nothing at all and instead just kick back and relax, listening to the waves. Closing your eyes and meditating is not difficult to do at the Zmudowski State Beach.

One thing we advise against is swimming or any other water sport. The waters of Zmudowski State Beach tend to be choppy, the rip currents are far too strong for it to be safe.
